New Post and Beam
The McKernon Group has built several post and beam homes known as timber frames. The technology stems from the old homes and barns that were constructed using squared off and carefully fitted joined timbers which were secured by large wooden pegs. With new tools and mass-production, techniques have made this a very popular style of home today. The visual use of beams in an open space is very appealing. There are several timber frame companies that provide home designs, and McKernon has constructed many of them. We have the added advantage of disassembling the old barns and rebuilding them piece by piece, so we understand the technique and the design.
