New Foundations/moving homes

Jacking, lifting and moving homes, barns, churches and other structures is a service that the McKernon Group has provided to clients since 1987. The first step is to have our company evaluate the construction of your building to determine if it is possible to safely remove it from its foundation and to determine its cost effectiveness. There are many old buildings in our communities that need to be stabilized and become more energy efficient. Jacking up a building in order to put in new foundations is viable way to achieve this. We have also relocated buildings in order to take advantage of natural topographic features that can greatly enhance a home’s value. Raising a building involves supporting it with steel beams and rolling it off its foundation onto a carriage. It is an unusual sight to see an entire building on the move.

Some of these photos go back to our earlier days when we first began this technique. The equipment is a little more sophisticated now, but the technique is the same.
