Background

The McKernon Group is an environmentally responsible design/build company that specializes in many types of construction. The company was founded in 1987 by former owner Jack McKernon and his partner, Kevin Birchmore. Expanding the business to its present status, Jack retired in 2011 at which time, Justus Cameron joined Kevin as part-owner of The McKernon Group. Our company’s reputation is based on distinctive home designs, quality workmanship and customer service. With 60 employees working in various capacities, we go beyond the typical profile of a residential construction company.

Jack McKernon

Jack McKernon, Founder, former President, and CEO retired in the summer of 2011. Having spent 25 years at the McKernon Group, he has enjoyed a lifetime of building homes. Jack has a wealth of knowledge, as has insight into the people who have invested their dreams with our firm. A talented craftsman, environmentalist and successful builder, he brought the McKernon Group to its present status amongst the clients and architects who are looking for quality building with a pleasant experience. His long time interest in green products and systems has placed him well ahead of the curve as our country moves in this direction. He will remain in an advisory position.

Kevin Birchmore

Kevin Birchmore, President and owner, has been with The McKernon Group since 1987. Overseeing all construction, sales and design, Kevin runs the daily operations of the company. Because of his high standards for customer service, our clients enjoy the involvement of a talented owner who has vast experience in every area of construction. Kevin has been featured as a speaker on topics such as “Project Management” and “Green Build”. The McKernon Group was chosen to build a home which was filmed for the TV show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”. Kevin led our company through a week of amazing challenges and reinforced the reputation of the company’s ability to take on any project with speed and excellence.

Justus Cameron

Justus Cameron, Vice President and part owner, joined The McKernon Group in 2007. Graduating from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, he has a degree in Construction Management. He has experienced all aspects of the company and excels in project management. Justus is very good at juggling an amazing workload. He is quick to give credit to the skillful work force at the McKernon Group, and explains that this is his reason for becoming a shareholder and leader. His vision for the company is to push the limits in order to allow clients to expect the best. He feels that with responsiveness, flexibility and open communication, the company will continue to be dedicated to creating strong lifelong relationships with clients and partners.
